Four useful Excel tools for your next trip can be found in the planning tool for trekking. These are a tour planner with a schedule, a packing list, a food calculator, and a fuel calculator. To sum up, the trekking tools let you plan everything in one place and make the most of them so that your tour goes smoothly. With the tour planner, you can easily create a detailed itinerary for your trip, including all the activities and attractions you want to visit. The packing list tool helps you keep track of all the essential items you need to bring, ensuring that you don’t forget anything important. Additionally, the food and fuel calculators assist in estimating how much food and fuel you will need for your journey, allowing you to plan accordingly and avoid any shortages along the way.
Planning tool trekking
These Excel tools are all about walking tours and are called “planning tool for trekking” There is only one important thing to remember so that they always work:
You can change the values of all the cells with a grade. All the other rows should stay the same, and here are the formulas that were put in them.
You can’t change these cells because they are protected to keep function and appearance from being changed by accident.
But in any tool, you can change the sample text, add your own lines, and so on. There is no need to use all of the planning tools for trekking together. You can use each one on its own.
Tour Planner
Every trip has some planning that goes into it. In the hiking tools, you can find a simple tour planner with a walking time calculator that will help you keep track of everything and not forget anything:
Buy Now!Yes, there is a DIN for this! The walking time calculator uses DIN 33466. To figure out how long it takes to walk, it is assumed that:
Someone walks away in an hour:
- 300 m of climbing
- 500 m of drop
- 4 km in length and width
To find the real walking time, take the smaller of the times found for horizontal and vertical removal and divide it in half. Then, add the larger value to the smaller value.
That being said, the type of road is not considered here. Again, you should ask about the estimated walking time and change it to fit the situation (for example, if you’re going on a tour with no roads in the field) and the speed at which you walk.
You can outline everything you’ve learned in the Setting the scene and tour planner’s checklist, and you can keep adding to them.
What’s in the Tour Planner:
- Stage planning
- Finding the walking time
- Tour To-Do List
- Getting information
Planning tool trekking: Packing List
My first tool was the Excel package list. Along with her, I made a packing list for hiking. Not only can it be used as a packing plan, but it can also be used to make sure that the equipment is as light as possible.
Buy Now!The graphic that gives you an overall score for your tools is at the top of the list. So we can quickly find the places where our weight drivers are hidden. There is a difference between “in the backpack,” “on the body,” and “consumption” on the list. This lets you see your general weight right away.
The items of tools are also separated into groups, such as clothing, electronics, sleeping, and cooking. This is another case where the result is shown in the form of a chart.
What the packing list shows:
- Weight based on starting weight and the amount used [g]
- Weight based on type of tools [g]
- Identifying the weight lifters
- Pack list so that nothing is forgotten
Planning tool trekking: Calculator for food
How to figure out how much energy you need I already talked about this in the piece about trekking food. There is also a sample diet plan for a tour day in the piece. With the food calculator, it’s now easy to keep track of, assess, and plan your whole tour diet.
Buy Now!50-35-15 for carbs, fat, and protein, or not?
Even though I’m not a nutritionist, I think the daily energy intake is evenly split between carbs, fats, and proteins. The diet calculator already sets the energy distribution based on the DGE’s suggestions, and the amount of fat is at the highest level possible because of physical exercise. But if you need to, you can just erase the numbers and change them to fit your own diet plan.
This test then tells you how the energy in your meal plan is distributed in terms of percentage (in%) and absolute (in kcal).
What the meal program found:
- Balance of calories [kcal]
- How the nutrients and energy are distributed [% and kcal]
- How much food is [g]
Planning tool trekking: Calculator for fuel
You can use the fuel calculator to find out which cooking kit with fuel for your trip is the best. You can put different stoves and cookers, fuel bottles, and fuel use in the fuel calculator. The fuel calculator determines which of your cooking sets is easiest to start and use based on how long your trip is and how much hot water you need.
Buy Now!After adding the tour information, you can see how much fuel your tour will use. You can then change the best fuel tank and the amount of fuel that needs to be added to see if the total weight of the kit changes again.
You can also choose how much safety you want to include in your fuel consumption and whether you can fill up based on how much you use. For example, it makes sense to fill up the fuel with gasoline or alcohol. But sadly, the companies that make gas cartridges don’t do this.
What the fuel calculator said:
- How much fuel is used [g]
- Set Weight for Cooking [g]
- Compare Cooking Sets [g]
- Weight in grams (min, max, average)
- Capacity of the fuel tank to be filled (ml or g)
